EDANJ is delighted to announce as the 2014 recipient of the Franklin-Maddocks Award for Excellence in Economic Development: The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games.

Bette SpinelliEDANJ’s Lifetime Achievement Award is being presented in absentia to honor the distinguished career of Elizabeth (Bette) Spinelli. Bette is retiring as the Director of the Hudson County Economic Development Corporation and is a Past President of EDANJ.

The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games generated $116.5M for the economy of Central New Jersey. Special Olympics New Jersey will accept the award on behalf of the June, 2014 Games, which were the best funded and best attended in a 46-year history. New Jersey was host to 3,500 athletes, 1,000 coaches, 70,000 spectators and 10,000 volunteers.

The amazing economic development career of Bette Spinelli will also be celebrated at the 2014 Holiday Party and Awards Ceremony. Bette has been a mentor and advisor to many in the economic development industry in New Jersey and had a distinguished career that demands recognition.
