Ciro Scalera, Executive Committee
As Director of Public Affairs
for Verizon Communications, Inc., Ciro Scalera is
responsible for Economic Development, Workforce
Development, Environmental and Health and Human
Services Policy areas for Verizon New Jersey. He
also assists in Legislative Affairs.
Ciro establishes linkages to important stakeholder
communities, including, Construction Trade Unions,
economic development organizations, State
departmental leaders and various segments of New
Jersey’s non-profit community.
Ciro continues to be involved in work initiatives
that include regulatory relief, tax reform
legislation, creation of a statewide coalition of
public and private entities committed to workforce
development efforts and unique outreach utilizing
the non-profit NJ SHARES utility assistance program.
Earlier in his career, as Chief of Management and
Policy in the Office of the Governor, Ciro oversaw
policy development for the Governor’s Office and the
State’s 19 Executive Departments as well as
oversight of NJ’s 911 and anthrax response. He
headed the Association for Children of NJ, a
statewide ladvocacy organization, for 24 years.
Ciro holds a JD degree from San Francisco Law
School, an MBA and a BA in Political Science from
Rutgers University.
In addition to his EDANJ board post, among his other
volunteer activities Ciro is a trustee of the New
Jersey Alliance for Action, The Newark Regional
Business Partnership, Newark’s Chamber group
stimulating economic development.
Married with three children, along with his 12 year
old son, Ciro is active in the Boy Scouts and PAL
Sports.
